Rodent Pest Control
How do you get rid of rats or mice?
There are a large number of indigenous rodents in Australia but the most destructive are the introduced species. These are:
- The Black Rat (also known as Roof Rat, Ship Rat or House Rat)
- Brown Rat (also know as Common Rat, Street Rat, Sewer Rat, Wharf Rat, Hanover Rat, Norway Rat, Norwegian Rat)
- Pacific Rat (also known as Polynesian Rat or Little Rat)
- House Mouse
There are 2 main methods of rodent control in a domestic and commercial situation. These are either trapping or baiting. Trapping isn’t a viable option for most pest control companies due to the fact the traps need to be monitored on a daily basis. This becomes not financially viable for most customers. The rodent traps need to be checked, any dead rat or mouse removed and disposed of and then the trap(s) need to be re-baited. For this reason, we only provide a baiting service. Our rodent service starts from $200 inc GST for a standard domestic property. This includes external rodent control stations, internal mouse stations (if required) and roof cavity baiting. Depending on the infestation, we recommend further inspections once every month until feeding ceases. Then once every 3 months.
Not having the stations inspected and if feeding increases, the issue will escalate and the infestation will return. You really only have empty boxes that are perfect for housing insects like spiders. The baiting service is designed for the rat or mouse to feed on the baits that are located in a lockable, tamper resistant rodent station. Neither children or pets can access the baits without the key and limits the ability for non targeted poisoning.
The rodent baits we use are a single feed mode of action that is highly palatable to allow for maximum bait uptake. One 15 gram block controls 5 rats which gives 25% more bait placement than competitors products. It also has a unique chemical structure for high efficiency most effective on the most common rat in Australia, the black rat. Otherwise known as the roof rat, house rat or ship rat. They are believed to originate on the Indian continent but are now spread world wide. These are found mainly in roof cavities and on rafters etc as well as ground level.
